Maureen Denise McCormick, the only daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father was an elementary school teacher, and her mom was a stay at home mom. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three oldest brothers. McCormick began singing and performing at a very young age. Her fairytale rise to fame started when she won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the age group of 6 which led to being contacted by the talent agent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency who asked whether she wanted to work in show business. McCormick landed her first major task in 1964 when she starred in a commercial on television for Mattels new doll, Baby Pattaburp. The following year she appeared in another commercial with the company's Chatty Cathy doll and was later cast in the show the play Wind It up until It Breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was one of 1200 children to play the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The sitcom starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed who were newlyweds with a blended-family. The show lasted five seasons. McCormick's autobiography Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was published in 2008. The book revealed the fact that McCormick nearly lost her virginity while on set of the series during the fifth season when it was played by Barry Williams. He was just 19. She was 16. We would've had a romance, she said. But the timing wasn't right.
